David Tao promoting Zàijiàn Nǐ Hǎo Ma (2013)

David Tao (陶喆) is a Taiwanese Mandopop singer-songwriter. He is best known for popularizing R&B in the Mandopop industry. Born to entertainer parents, Tao grew up in Taiwan and the United States. He returned to Taiwan to write and produce songs for other artists before releasing his self-titled debut album in 1997. The album was a success and was nominated for five Golden Melody awards. Tao's second album, I'm OK, incorporated rock music and eventually outsold its predecessor. His subsequent albums were successes and helped to create a genre that fused both hard rock and R&B elements.
