exist†trace is a five member all-female Japanese rock band in the visual-kei scene that formed in June of 2003. Their name is supposed to mean "The presence of traces", which is also their concept, asking the meaning of life through music. Visually they can be described as gothic and while some members go for a more feminine look, their image remains dark. It matches their music well, which is gloomy and heavy; Jyou compliments that with screaming, growling, and melodic singing.
They were an indies band signed with Sequence Records (2006-2008) and Monster's inc. (2008-2010), which now manages them. On January 9th, 2011 during their live at SHIBUYA BOXX it was announced that exist†trace would be making their major debut. Later, details about their debut was revealed; TRUE, their major debut mini-album, was to be released on June 15th through Tokuma Japan Communications.
