HeyGirls (2022)

HeyGirls (헤이걸스) was a Korean pop girl group under Moai Entertainment. They debuted in 2012 as Black Queen under Sun Woo Entertainment. The group is well known before debut for releasing videos on YouTube of them dancing to some famous Korean and American songs. They disbanded on December 26, 2023.

Debut

Black Queen was originally a Korean dance group who made covers on YouTube since 2008. Their dance covers became very popular as their Daum cafe had more than 36,000 fans. Many fans of the group wanted them to become a girl group and in early 2012 they announced they would make their debut with their digital single "Good Girl", formed by Jihyun, Jandi, Jiyoung, Sori and Rani. After the release, the group had numerous line-up changes, including Mizi, who later debuted in BIKINY.

2016-17: Second Digital Single & Re-Debut

Four years later their debut, the group finally came back on February 3, 2016 with their second digital single "Nolja". At the time, they were formed by Jandi, Jihyun, Sori and Heesu. Sori left the group in 2012, returned in 2015 and then left again in 2016, re-debuting in ICIA in 2017 as Nayoon.

After several line-up changes, it was announced that they would be debuting as HeyGirls with two new members, Siyeon and Daeun. They debuted on November 20, 2017 with the digital single "Neo Animyeon NO".

2018-22: Line-up Changes, Fandom Name, Comeback & Departures

In 2018, the group had three releases through the year. In November, they won the Rookie Award at the 26th Korean Culture Entertainment Awards.

On June 25, 2019, Moai Entertainment announced that Heesu's contract would be expiring on the 30th and she left the group. On July 3, Baekhap (former pre-debut member of Rendezvous) and Sulhee were announced as the new members. Baekhap left the group in November without an official statement.

HeyGirls (2019)

On June 29, 2020, their label announced Jandi and Siyeon's departures. Later, Dami, Sara and Jein were introduced. Jein debuted in four groups before joining HeyGirls.

On December 11, 2020, Chaerin was introduced and in the same month they announced Dami's hiatus. She left the group without an official statement.

In March 2021, the group started releasing teasers for their first comeback in two years. On April 24, they announced their fandom name, "HAVEN". The group released "I Cook" on April 29 as a digital single and in the format of "smart album", making HeyGirls one of the first groups to release an album in this format. They came back with "Shining Star" on August 3.

On November 17, they announced Sara's departure from the group.

On April 13, 2022, Daeun left the group due to the expiration of her contract. The group was also planning to come back with three members and release an OST.

2023: Disband & 1CHU

On December 26, 2023, Moai Entertainment announced the disbandment of the group and stated that the sub-unit 1CHU is now an official group. The label also announced plans to debut a new group in 2024.
