meg is currently a Japanese jazz, swing, and big band artist from Yokohama. She is not to be confused with electropop artist and model MEG or meg rock. Before the release of her song "Where I Want To Be" and her album Grace, meg was known by her real name Kobayashi Megumi. In the 90's, she was a model, an actress, a pop artist, an idol, and a part of the agency A-team. She is probably best known to foreigners outside Japan as the character Moll from the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy and Gamera the Brave.

Information
meg was born as Kobayashi Megumi in Yokohama on April 24th, 1977. She aimed to become a singer since childhood, and singing was her favorite hobby. When an acquaintance recommended Ella Fitzgerald's cover of Cole Porter's 1932 song "Night And Day" to her, meg immediately took an interest in jazz music. She began to take lessons under the wing of Maruyama Shigeo, and her vocal ability and power of expression improved greatly. meg began performing in districts of Tokyo, like Ginza and Shibuya, and gained herself a fanbase from her outgoing character and fashionable performances.
To kickstart her jazz career she first chose the moniker meg. The second step was that her cover of the song "Where I Want To Be" was used as a Yakult Beautiens commercial song in April of 2006. The third was meg's "debut" album Grace, which was released later on in that year, in November. meg had worked with arrangers Moriya Junko and Miki Toshio to further develop her big band sound.
