D=OUT (ダウト) is a five piece Japanese rock band in the visual-kei scene. The band formed in December of 2006 under the concept of Patriotic Entertainers. They were signed to the independent label SPEED DISK (2007-2010) and were being distributed by Geneon Universal Entertainment (2008-2010).

On July 1st, 2010 it was announced that D=OUT had joined PS COMPANY's indies division Indie PSC..Their eighth single "Psychedelico∞Psychedelico" is the first release with the new label. On January 16th, 2011 Kouki announced through his blog that D=OUT will make their major debut during the summer of 2011.

Biography

D=OUT's Debut (2006)

2006-2007

D=OUT was created in December of 2006 by vocalist Kouki (ex-Mist of Rouge) after his unsuccessful solo career. The other members were guitarist Ibuki (ex-Gillty), newcommer guitarist Hikaru, bassist Reika (ex-GRANDNUDE), and drummer Minase (ex-V-Friends). They formed under the concept of Patriotic Entertainers. Their first live was a secret one on December 29th at Meguro Rockmaykan.

Their first official activities started on January 12th, 2007 with a live at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU. They played three more lives at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU: on the 17th, 24th, and the 30th. January ended with a live at Ikebukuro CYBER. February was only three lives, two at Ikebukuro CYBER (on the 15th & 16th), and a secret live at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU on the 20th.

On March 4th D=OUT held their first organised event at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU titled "Aikoku Tasogare Gekijou ~Naresome Kanrakugai Hen~". Here is also when the band distributed their first release, "Flashback". This event led into a sting of lives, starting on March 9th at HOLIDAY OSAKA and ending on May 31st at Harajuku ASTRO HALL, altogther hitting 13 stops.

D=OUT promoting "Heisei Bavel" (2007)

To celebrate the release of their first single later on in the month, D=OUT held their second organised event. It was on June 10th, at Takadanobaba AREA, and was called "Heisei Bavel Theatre". The other bands participating were in alphabetical order: Kazari, Kikai Ningyou Kagekidan Karakuri, SuG, Siva, Denquixote,【_Vani;lla】, and Lad. On the 13th the band took part in a Visunavi sponsored event at Takadanobaba AREA. Their debut single, "Heisei Bavel", was released on the 22nd in three different types. For those who weren't there for D=OUT's first event, "Flashback" is included in the tracklist.

Before August, they participated in two events and played five lives. The events were an Arc organised event titled "Waru Gaki-tachi no Saturday Night Fever☆!!" on June 23rd at HOLIDAY OSAKA, and a juliadoll presents event called "elements of dolls scene.5 ~complicated and mysterious cast~" on July 8th at Takadanobaba AREA. The lives performed in two lives as a part of anothers' tour, they were: on June 25th at Takadanobaba AREA for the TUXEDO PRODUCTION presents tour TOUR TUXEDO COLLECTION'07 -FINAL!! -Tokyo- final, and on July 12th at Yokohama ARENA SOUND HALL for one of the h'evn no Omatsuri★Tenmade Tobou!! ~Kantou Kinkou Hen~ dates. D=OUT played three of their own lives, one at Meguro Rockmaykan on July 1st, and the other two on July 18th and 29th (both at Takadanobaba AREA).

August began with a secret live on the 5th at Takadanobaba AREA. Since their debut single had since sold out, they were set to release a second pressing of it later on in the month. On the 10th the band performed their first free solo live at Shibuya BOXX, and it was titled "Shibuya Hachi・Ichimaru Jikan". At this live advanced copies of the second pressing of their debut single was sold, the single was called "Heisei Bavel -Hachi・Ichimaru Jikan Ban-". The regular release of the second pressing, "Heisei Bavel -Kanbai Orei Ban-", was released on the 17th.

August 19th started of another string of lives, the first was at Ikebukuro CYBER and it ended off at Takadanobaba AREA on Octover 9th. The total number of lives this time was eight. One of note was the Mellow produced live titled "Glass no Kutsu Sagashi" on September 12th at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU. In this time D=OUT signed with the independent label SPEED DISK, which signs visual-kei and oshare-kei bands.

At Shibuya BOXX on September 12th, the band held another CD release event called "Shirahata Sengen Shoumyou-dai". This time it was for their second single "Shirahata Sengen", which is the first of theirs to have label-backing. Preceding its release they performed two lives at Shibuya O-WEST on the 21st and 23rd. The aforementioned second single was released on September 24th in two different types. It reached #18 on the indies Oricon chart.

The years end was met with a longer string of lives, beginning on November 4th at Takadanobaba AREA and concluding on December 13th at Nagoya E.L.L. There were 15 lives total performed. On December 19th their third single "Barairo no Jinsei" was released in two different types. This reached #14 on the indies Oricon chart. Three lives collectively ended 2007: the first one was on the 22nd at Shibuya O-EAST, the second was a X'mas special live at Shibuya O-Crest called "Sakigake Avant-garde -Manshitsu Sawagi-", and the last was a live on the 31st at Takadanobaba AREA.

2008-2009

D=OUT promoting "Bankoku, Dai-Tokyo / Akai Kasa to Anata" (2008)

The new year started with many lives, totaling 14 performances, beginning on January 10th at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRo and ending on February 24th at Takadanobaba AREA (which was the PS COMPANY presents "Chichuu Roukaku Sono 71" event). Some activities of note are: on February 2nd at Sendai HOOK for one of UNDER CODE PRODUCTION presents Nega's CD release tour 2008 LooP Under the Chaos dates, February 14th's Like an Edison presents "Be My Valentine'08" event at Harajuku ASTRO HALL, and February 23rd at Okayama CRAZY MAMA for one of the KY presents [Interpersonal Relationship] tour '08 dates.

On February 27th, D=OUT released their first double A-side single "Bankoku, Dai-Tokyo / Akai Kasa to Anata" in two different types. It reached #11 on the indies Oricon chart. This is also the first release of theirs to chart on the major Oricon chart, it reached #170 on charted for a week. March 1st was when they participated in another PS COMPANY "Chichuu Roukaku" event, it was the 73rd volume and was at Nagoya E.L.L. The band had their first anniversary live on March 7th at Shibuya O-WEST titled "Bankoku, Dai-Tokyo", it was also used to promote their double A-side single. At this important live they distributed "Toge" with a history book.

Before the next releases they played a short stint of five lives, starting on March 17th at Shibuya O-WEST and ending on April 26th at Takadanobaba AREA. On April 30th D=OUT started a two month consecutive mini-album release plan with the release of the mini-album Rouman Joumyaku-teki Chabangeki. These two releases are only in the CD+DVD format and also feature their first PVs. Preceding the next one the band played two more lives: one on May 9th at OSAKA MUSE and the other one on May 10th at Nagoya E.L.L as a part of "Absolute Domain -Zettai Ryouiki-" event. The second mini-album, Rouman Doumyaku-teki Chabangeki, was released on May 28th. This reached #244 on the major Oricon chart, where it charted for a week. May concluded with a live at Takadanobaba AREA on the 31st.

June 13th the band organised an event and played a live at Takadanobaba AREA. June 22nd started off the TOUR-2008 "CANNONBALL" tour (of the CANNONBALL compilation albums) at Sendai HOOK, which the band took part in. The five stop tour ended on July 4th at Shibuya O-EAST. This led into another tour which they also participated in, it was an 11 stop tour called stylish wave '08 MAX. It began on July 12th at Takadanobaba AREA and concluded on August 7th at Hiroshima CLUB QUATTRO. During the second tour they again took part in an "Absolute Domain -Zettai Ryouiki-" event, titled ~individual theater~ on July 29th at Nagoya E.L.L. The second tours' final was on August 11th at Akasaka BLITZ.

On August 13th D=OUT released their debut album ZIPANG in two different types. It reached #13 on the indies Oricon chart, and #140 on the major chart where it charted for a week. This would also be their first official overseas release. It was released in Europe through CLJ Records on October 2nd. The band played their first reservation-only solo performance called "Ikebukuro Enjou no Ran" on August 22nd at Toshima Koukaidou. They then took part in two tours the first one being called Kuuchuu Ouran, and it was two dates: September 9th at Nagoya E.L.L, and the 10th at Osaka BIGCAT. The second tour was titled ATOMIC CORE and was three dates: September 12th at Kumamaoto DRUM Be-9, 13th at Hakata DRUM Be-1, and the 16th at Hiroshima CLUB QUATTRO. September concluded with the 78th volume of the PS COMPNAY presents "Chichuu Roukaku" event on the 28th at Takadanobaba AREA.

Their next buch of activity started with a live at Shibuya O-WEST on October 5th and one of the "Shock Edge the Live! 2DAYS" events at Takadanobaba AREA on the 12th. On October 19th the band celebrated Kouki's birthday with a live called "HAPPY TREE WORLD" at Meguro Rockmaykan. They participated in two dates of the PS COMPANY presents Chichuu Roukaku event tour, they were on October 25 that HEAVEN'S ROCK Saitama Shintoshin VK-3 and November 9th at SUNPHONIX Hall in YOKOHAMA ARENA. October ended with a live on the 31st at Takadanobaba AREA.

In November, along with SPEED DISK label-mates and other bands, D=OUT took part in the label's Shinrabanshow tour '08 tour. It started on the 12th at Nagoya E.L.L and ended on the 16th at Fukuoka DRUM Be-1, hitting four stops. Sometime after the release of their debut album and now, the band switched distributors from SPEED DISK's distributor XXX RECORDS to the major distributor Geneon Universal Entertainment. The first release with the new distribution is their fifth single "Myoujou Orion", which was released in three different types on December 17th. This reached #44 on the major Oricon chart, where it charted for three weeks.

A tour titled Myoujou Golden was held to support the new switch and promote the new single. It was a four date tour, with each live having a title. The dates were: the first was on December 19th at Nagoya ell.FITS ALL and called "Owari Ume no Aida", the second was on the 21st at Osaka FANJ-twice and called "Naniwa Matsu no Aida", the third was on the 23rd at Hakata DRUM SON and titled "Bizen Take no Aida", and the last was on the 28th at Daikanyama UNIT and was titled "Oedo Goten". The end of this year was met with two lives on the 31st.

2009 began with a string of 10 lives, starting of January 13th at Takadanobaba AREA and ending on March 10th at LIQUID ROOM ebisu. Two of notice are the "Shinrabanshow" events on consecutive days (beginning on February 27th) at Nagoya E.L.L and Osaka FANJ-twice. D=OUT then played in three tours, one of which was their first overseas tour. They first played two dates in the stylish wave CIRCUIT '09 Haru no Arashi tour, the first at HEAVEN'S ROCK Utsunomiya VJ-2 on March 15th and the second at HEAVEN'S ROCK Saitama Shintoshin VJ-3 on the 20th. The second tour was the Shinrabanshow tour '09 tour, which began on March 24th at Nagoya E.L.L and concluding on April 10th at Shibuya O-EAST, altogether hitting seven stops.

The last of the three tours was their Euopean tour, titled D=OUT Hatsu! EURO TOUR '09. It started on April 15th at Barcelona, Spain and ended on the 21st at Utrecht, The Netherlands, hitting five stops. The next day (the 22nd) the band released their sixth single "Hanasaki Beauty" in three different types. It reached #38 on the major Oricon chart, where it charted for three weeks. On May 1st at Fuchuu no Mori Geijutsu Gekijou Furusato Hall, they celebrated their second anniversary with a one-man concert called "Doerai Ni-shuunen Kinensai". The only other activity in May was the 89th volume of the PS COMPANY presents "Chichuu Roukaku" events, which was on the 24th at Takadanobaba AREA.

Their next tour called Natsu Tsuyu no Mushashugyou TOUR was during all of June. This began on on the 5th at Sendai JUNK BOX and concluded on the 23rd at Shibuya O-WEST, hitting six stops altogether. The tour final, titled "Manatsu no Gokujou LIQUID ROOM ~Tokumori Hen~", was at LIQUID ROOM ebisu on July 25th. In the midst of the tour but before the final, they released their second album, a cover album named Touryuumon. This was released only in the CD+DVD format and reached #125 on the major Oricon chart, where it charted for a week.

They also took part in the stylish wave MAX '09 tour during July and August. This tour started on July 12th at Takasaki CLUB FLEEZ and ended on August 16th at Kawasaki CLUB CITTA', hitting nine stops altogether. Preceding the tour's final the band participated in one of the Shinrabanshow tour '09 #2 dates on August 14th at Shibuya O-EAST. On August 26th they released their seventh single "Aoi Tori" in three different types. It reached #33 on the major Oricon chart, where it charted for a week. This is currently D=OUT's highest charting single.

All of September was their Hachidai Toshi Chokkagata Mousho Tour '09 tour. It began on the 6th at HEAVEN'S ROCK Saitama Shintoshin VJ-3 and concluded on the 26th at Nagoya E.L.L. On the 17th the band's first DVD "Manatsu no Gokujou LIQUID ROOM ~Tokumori Hen~" was released through their official online store. The next day (18th) the tour's final was played at Tokyo Kinema Club. October ended with three events: the first one was one of the h'evn no Omatsuri☆Tenamde Tobou!! dates on the 21st at Shibuya O-WEST, the second was the "V-ROCK FESTIVAL '09" along with many many bands on the 25th at Makuhari MESSE Kokusaiten Tenjijou 9・10・11 Halls, and the last was the "AREA Halloween Special LIVE 2009" on the 31st at Takadanobaba AREA.
