It was originally planned for release on September 6th, however the album was postponed so that the "Mikazuki" single would be able to be released first. Originally, this song was not planned for the album. The album was reissued twice on 2012 and 2015 with discounted price for a limited time.
First Message debuted at #1 on Oricon weekly charts and had the highest selling first week on a debut album by a solo female artist since Nakashima Mika's debut album TRUE in 2002. As this album sold 711,299 copies in 2006, it became the #13 album of the year. This album also reached #1 on the World Charts.
First Message was certified Million by RIAJ for shipment around 1 million copies.
