"Chou HAPPY SONG" is a single released by Berryz Kobo and °C-ute. It was first released as a digital single, then released as a maxi single. The single was released in limited A, B, C, D, and regular editions. Limited C and D featured both coupling tracks by either artist and limited A and B came with bonus DVDs. The limited editions came with a serial number card which, when entered in a lottery, could win a ticket to one of the single's launch events. The single reached #3 on the Oricon charts and charted for seven weeks, selling 56,895 copies. The Event V was sold only during launch events, and therefore did not chart on the Oricon charts.
"Chou HAPPY SONG" is a combined version of Berryz Kobo's "Because happiness" and °C-ute's "Shiawase no Tochuu", from the respective albums Ai no Album 8 and Dainana Shou "Utsukushikutte Gomen ne". Both songs were composed by Tsunku in such a way that when played simultaneously, they would form a complimenting melody. Tsunku had written in his blog that there was a "secret" for both songs. (1 2) Although this trick was to be revealed at Hello! Project's 2012 summer concerts, it was discovered quickly by fans, leading to videos being uploaded to the Mobecumas channel and the release of a digital single.
