Kido aspired to be a seiyuu ever since watching "Shugo Chara" on television and admiring Mizuki Nana's performance in the anime while she was in grade school. In 2011, she auditioned for Hori Pro's talent scouting campaign with the song "Seikan Hikou" from "Macross F", and became a finalist. In the same year, she made her first starring debut in the anime "Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne!" as the heroine Himenokouji Akiko.
