Kim Sori

Sori (Kim So-ri) is a new artist that debuted in February 2009 with her Single ‘Lips’. She wowed the music industry with her extraordinary performance skills and stunning charm when she burst on to the music scene in February. Sori is called by the Korean music lovers a ‘rising star’ and is not only becoming a great performer but a sexy icon despite only being a young celebrity. Photographers have called the young Sori ‘perfect’ for the way she acts like a chameleon in front of the camera, expressing every emotion from bubbly and cute to alluring and sexy. Sori has been dubbed by the press the next ‘BoA’ and ‘Hyori Lee’.

Biography

Before Sori's debut into the K-pop scene, she was already singing and dancing her way into the public's hearts. She had been the female lead for the musical, "A Ballerina who Loved a B-boy," (2005-2007) and showed off skills in ballet, modern dance and breakdancing! All this whilst also achieving a Bachelor’s degree from Sangmyung University.

Despite her musical success, Sori had a dream and she wasn't going to let it go. She dreamt of being a pop-star, and luckily for her, fate was on her side. "Fate" which came in the form of the group Jewelry (쥬얼리).

Her title track, "Lips," has been gaining a lot of recognition for the new artist on the Korean music scene. The song was made especially for Sori, by the K-pop hit-making genius, composer Bang Si-hyuk, who has composed for some of the biggest names in Korean music; BoA, Bi (Rain), G.O.D., Baek Ji Young, etc. Bang Si-hyuk created the song along the same line as Baek Ji Young's Give Your Lips. Another track that was getting as much recognition as "Lips," was her song "Pinky-Finger." Which added depth to her lilting vocals, the song also featured actor Lee Jun-ki in the song. The dance choreography was done by dance god, Nam Hyun Joon while music video was directed by BoA's brother, Kwon Soon Wook.

The song talks about how a woman's lips keeps going out of control with men because it's too pretty. The ‘yoohoo yoohoohoo’ part is especially seductive on repeated listens although the song is overly digitally enhanced. After performing her song on Music Bank, it immediately drew comparisons with Baek Ji Young to which Sori expressed her delight and said she will do even better in future to display more of her charisma to fans. Sori can sing both dance songs as well as ballads with ease and proficiency, which is amazing for any artist to be accomplished in both genres. Sori has made her mark on the Korean club scene, she was seen performing by one reporter at a club, the reporter stated:
