MOON is the third album released by Gackt. It was first released on June 19th, 2002 as the standard edition. It comes in book form without a lyrics insert. There is, however, a note saying to enjoy the story and the music itself without the lyrics. The lyrics would later be released in his next album Crescent. The limited first pressing grants a luxury booklet. In 2006 along with MARS, Rebirth, Crescent, and DIABOLOS, as a part of the Gackt PREMIUM COLLECTION series, the album was re-released again. This edition features the remastered SACD (Super Audio CD) album, housed in a 31cm×31cm deka jacket, a B2-sized poster, and a 30cm×30cm sized booklet.
The first release of the album reached #2 on the Oricon chart, where it charted for 10 weeks, selling 281,590 copies. While the deka jacket release reached #60 on the Oricon chart, where it charted for two weeks.
