MARS is the debut album released by Gackt. It was first released on April 26th, 2000 in a limited edition as it was printed in limited quantities. It came in digipack form with a separate book all in a plastic case. The album was re-released five years later on September 23rd, 2005 soon after the release of DIABOLOS. This edition is the standard release, the CD is in a regular jewel casing and the separate book is a booklet. In 2006 along with Rebirth, MOON, Crescent, and DIABOLOS, as a part of the Gackt PREMIUM COLLECTION series, the album was re-released again. This edition features the remastered SACD (Super Audio CD) album, housed in a 31cm×31cm deka jacket, a B2-sized poster, and a 30cm×30cm sized booklet.
The first release of the album reached #3 on the Oricon chart, where it charted for five weeks, selling 153,500 copies. While the deka jacket release reached #54 on the Oricon chart, where it charted for two weeks.
