Tawata Emi (多和田えみ) is a Japanese singer, currenly signed to the Techesko record label. Her music is a mix of soul, R&B, jazz, blues, reggae, and funk. Her debut single "Negai no Sora" peaked at the #1 spot on the Okinawain Indies chart.

Tawata Emi was born on June 26th 1984 in the Ginowan prefecture of Okinawa, Japan. Tawata started playing with a brass band at a young age. In 2005 she went to Canada to study language. It was during her time in Canada that she first really fell in love with music, mainly jazz music. After returning to Japan in 2006 she began to study jazz.

In April 2007, Tawata participated in a musicial audition and won the MSN Special Jury Prize. She then signed a contract with the indie Nancle Label and released her debut single, "Negai no Sora" on May 15th 2007. This single was released with Tawata using the katakana spelling of her name: タワタエミ. The single did quite well and reached #1 on an Okinawain indie music chart. The single got the attention of a larger label, AMUSE, and they signed Tawata to their new Techesko sub-label. Under her new label she covered Antonio Carlos Jobim's song "This Happy Madness" and the recorded "Into You", a collaboration with DJ Kawasaki. "Into You" became quite popular on iTunes and it even recieved a special prize. This gave her a quick boost in popularity, and she soon when on a tour and assembled her backing band The Soul Infinity.

On April 23rd 2008, Tawata released her debut mini-album, ∞Infinity∞. The mini-album reached #110 on the weekly Oricon chart. Only a few months after the release of ∞Infinity∞ she released another mini-album, LOVE&PEACE, which included the collaboration with DJ Kawasaki. This mini-album reached #204 on the weekly Oricon chart.

After the release of LOVE&PEACE, Tawata started working on her third mini-album, Sweet Soul Love. This mini-album was promoted during her Tawata Emi & The Soul Infinity: Sweet Soul Tour 2009 tour. Along with this mini-album came the collaboration between the popular apparel brand Soulsmania. Soulsmania made some T-shirts promoted Tawata and her band. The mini-album, Sweet Soul Love was released on March 18th 2009 and reached #284 on the weekly Oricon chart. Two months after the release of the mini-album, Tawata's official website announced the release of her first single, "Toki no Sora". The title track has two tir-ins: it was used as the ending theme song from the quiz show Sekai Fushigi Hakken anf it was the theme for the movie Chikujou Seyo. Despite having two tie-ins, the single did not chart on the Oricon.

In August 2009, Tawata announced on her blog that she would be releasing her first full-length studio album, SINGS along with her third single "Namida no Oto" on November 4th. The single didn't chart on the Oricon chart, while the album peaked at #111.

In January 2010, she started out on her Tawata Emi & The Soul Infinity: Sings of Souls live 2010 tour. During this tour she released her fourth single, "Lovely Day". The single was produced by Gospellers member Murakami Tetsuya and even collaboration with her on the song "Let's Stay Together". After the tout ended, Tawata released the live CD+DVD album from the tour, SINGS Of Souls Live 2010.

After being absent from her music carreer for more then 2 years, her official website announed a new mini-album to be released on 26 September, 2012.
