The Beginning is JYJ's international debut album. The English album was produced by American singer/producers Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins and counts with the vocal participations of West and Malik Yusef. Each JYJ member also composed one song for the album.
The Beginning was intended to be released on October 12, however the release date was delayed. Korean stores start selling the album on October 18th (14th for the digital edition), while international stores on October 25th (21st for the regular edition). The album (regular edition) was later released digitally on Amazon and iTunes in November 9.
