Spitz

Spitz is a Japanese pop-rock band formed in 1987 under Universal Music Japan label.

After meeting in Shizuoka in 1986, they performed music inspired by the famous British group The Beatles.

They released their debut album, Spitz, in 1991, the band went unnoticed for several years, but became very popular in 1995 with the release of their 11th single "Robinson" and 6th album Hachimitsu. One of their most famous songs, "Sora mo Toberu Hazu", was featured as the theme song of Hakusen Nagashi, a popular drama, and is used frequently in school graduation ceremonies. Several of their songs were featured in the anime Honey and Clover.

Their musical style is influenced by Donovan and The Beatles. Their music is often seen as pop ballads. However, the band initially started as a hard rock band.

Since Spitz's debut, they have released 38 singles, 13 albums, 3 best albums, 3 mini-albums, 3 special albums and 12 video releases. They also have their own tribute album. Their 38th single "Sarasara / Boku wa Kitto Tabi ni Deru" was released May 15th, 2013.
