Maho Shoujo (魔法少女) literally means "magical girl" in Japanese, is a genre of manga and anime in Japan. The genre feature a young girl hero with superhuman abilities who fight evil and protect others. Most maho shoujo series are made for young girls referred to Shoujo anime.
Popular maho shoujo manga and anime include Himitsu no Akko-chan, Cutie Honey, and Sailor Moon.
