In Japan, people of all ages read manga. and since the 1950s, manga has become a major part of the Japanese publishing industry, representing a ¥420 billion revenue in 2009. Manga has also gained a significant worldwide audience. Manga stories are typically printed in black-and-white, although some in color exist. Most are adapted into an anime and sometimes into a film.
