Category talk:Talento

Revision as of 03:51, 11 April 2010 by Pizca (talk | contribs)

I don't quite get this category in relation to the others. Technically, a "talento" is anyone in the industry, but we already have Actor/Actress categories, a Gravure category, Comedian category, and an Idol category (which is also kind of redundant). ~ Wapiko 14:17, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Really? I thought a talento was something along the lines of a TV personality. --Lambchopsuey 22:18, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Both Wikipedias essentially say it's a catch-all term for anyone who makes television appearances, which is basically everyone in the categories I listed it above. I can see making Talento the main category and then everything else a subcategory, maybe? ~ Wapiko 01:19, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
No, a Talento "usually" is not any of the one you listed above. A Talento is just a Talento, who with some time and maybe some luck become one of those you listed. I think the category is fine the way it is, because is the way to "separate" the Japanese celebrities who start being a Talento and then became singers, actors or whatever, of those who start their careers without any kind of these TV appearances.--Pizca 03:05, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
So you'd say they're the bottom of the celebrity scale? According to Japanese wikipedia, they're announcers and athletes and perhaps everything of the above. I don't think they really aim at climbing the ladder, if this is what you mean, but Wiki lists one helluva lot of "talento" that span several pages (actor talent, actress talent, comedian talent, etc) - it seems all the same. ~ Wapiko 03:13, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I never intended to say that. What I said is that there are many celebrities who being a Talento is their only profession, and some of those, and maybe because their acquired fame, debut as something else (some members of the Hexagon family come to my mind). Listing as Talentos all the actors/singers/comedians that appear on TV is really absurd, but there is people who ARE Talentos. I mean, what is Kinoshita Yukina if not a Talento, but would you put Utada Hikaru in that category?. All artists can't be under Talento category (mainly because that's why the People category exists for), but there are certainly Talentos who deserve their own category.
I'm probably explaining myself bad XD.--Pizca 03:51, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
