Okamoto Maiko

Okamoto Maiko (岡本舞子) is a Japanese pop idol singer and actress. Okamoto got her start when she was a child as an actress and a mascot for various variety shows like Sunny Side 7 and Morning Salad. In 1984, she also debuted as an idol singer under the label Victor Entertainment with the single "Mishiranu Kuni no Tripper". But it wasn't until her second single, "Ai tte Ringo Desu ka", that Okamoto became popular and call herself an "idol". With her second single, she won the Rookie of the Year award at various award ceremonies and festivals like the 16th Annual Japan Song Ballad Awards and 4th Annual Metropolis Song Festival.

In 1987, she debuted as a screen actress in the movie Maiko Monogatari. But after the movie was released, Okamoto retired from the world of show business. Currently, she is a mother and has one child.
