Information

Soroban started out in 2004. The members of Soroban started making music when they were in their early teens. They began learning to play instruments, and through school activities such as music clubs they got to know each other.

In the beginning of 2002 the four of them decided to start a band together, called Primrose. Despite their young ages (when they started they were between 14-16-years old), they managed to achieve a bit of success. Yumehito wrote all of the music and lyrics for the band and they also released a single. In the very beginning they performed a lot in talent shows for teenagers and such and later on they participated in bigger events too.

Two years later, in April 2004 they changed their name into Soroban. During Primrose they had participated in small events and didn't appear in any magazines. But with Soroban they seemed determined to make it big. With a new name, a new look and with new songs, they started all over again.

They continued to perform in various events, and on October 6th they had their first one-man at the Akasaka lan. This one-man completely sold out though the pre-orders. A month later, on November 1st, they released their single "–RAM- / Orange Tegami". It ranked 7th on the Oricon indies charts and sold out quite fast. Later on December 12th, they released a second press of it.

The band did lots of performances in 2005. On these performances they started to sell some of their singles, which were only available there. After they released these four live-only singles, they released a normal single again: “Sora ni Hanabi” in August.

In late 2005 they joined the label Danger Crue and started their own sub-label Sky Crue records.

In 2006 they released a lot new material on their own label. It started with a mini-album, which included most of the songs that they had released on live-only singles before, but this time with different arrangements. After that followed three singles, which all contained one track. They promoted them by doing various one-man conserts.

In July 2006, the band announced on their official website that they would disband in August. They had their last concert on August 2nd.
