Jangnanseureon Kiss (장난스런 키스; Playful Kiss, also known as Mischievous Kiss, and Naughty Kiss) is a South Korean drama directed by Hwang In Roe and Kim Do Hyung with a screenplay written by Go Eun Nim. It starred actress Jung So Min and Kim Hyun Joong and is based on the popular Japanese manga Itazura na Kiss. The series aired from September 1, 2010 to October 21, 2010 on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 9:55 PM on MBC. The drama suffered from poor ratings, averaging a low %5.6 nationwide viewer rating. However, after its initial run on MBC, the series continued on Youtube beginning on November 2, 2010 for which 7 ten-minute long special episodes were made for the video sharing site. The online version gained 520,000 viewers in 2 days and was watched not just from Koreans, but from international viewers. Due to it's online popularity on Youtube, American news channel CNN interviewed Kim Hyun Joong, Google Korea CEO Seo Hwang Wook, and Group 8 CEO Song Byung Joon, whom are the production company for the series.

Synopsis

Oh Ha Ni (Jung So Min) is a bubbly, plucky, scatterbrained teenager. She is not academically gifted but harbors a crush on Baek Seung Jo (Kim Hyun Joong), a popular, haughty, handsome student whom is academically and athletically gifted. Ha Ni finally develops the courage to reveal her feelings to Seung Jo, and gives him a love letter confessing her feelings. However, Baek coldly rejects her declaring he is not interested in non-academically gifted girls. Ha Ni's house is later destroyed in an earthquake and her father's old high school friend invited them to stay in their house. Yet, it turns out that Ha Ni's father's high school friend is Seung Jo's father.
