Jyukai (2006)

Jyukai (樹海) is a J-pop duo comprised of Watanabe Manami (vocals, lyrics) and Dewa Yoshiaki (music, piano, guitar). They are most famous in the Western world for composing and performing anime music.

Jyukai are currently signed to Sistus Records (a subsidiary of Geneon Entertainment).

Information

Watanabe and Dewa met in 2003. Dewa was looking for a vocalist and in the summer of 2004, Jyukai was formed, performing mainly in Osaka. Dewa and Watanabe made a demo tape and sent it to a recording company, consequently, they signed a contract. In 2006, Jyukai debuted in the mainstream scene with the single Anata ga Ita Mori, ending theme to Fate/stay night. Anata ga Ita Mori had fairly success, leading Jyukai to the sixteenth place in the Oricon charts. Anata ga Ita Mori is currently Jyukai's best-selling single. In the same year, they released Koibito Doushi, ending theme of Aa, Megami-sama!: Sorezore no Tsubasa and Hoshiakari, ending theme of Busou Renkin. Both did fairly well in the charts, breaking into the Top 100. Their first album, Wild flower was also released. Wild flower reached the #49 place in the Oricon charts, selling more than 4,520 copies. Finally, in 2007, Jyukai released Sakasete wa Ikenai Hana and Komoriuta / Himegoto. These singles were not used as anime themes, however, they were used in programs for general entertainment and dramas.
