- Information
Kazemachi Roman is the second album released by Happy End. It was originally released in vinyl format and subsequently reissued several times by URC. Future reissues on vinyl, cassette and CD formats were distributed by a wide range of labels, including Toho Records, SMS Records, Kitty Records, Toshiba Records, Avex Io, and most recently (as of 2020) Pony Canyon.
The album's concept is nostalgia for Tokyo as it was before the 1964 Summer Olympics sped up the westernization of the city.
The number of copies sold is in dispute, as Oricon's website only records chart placement for releases after 1988 (as of 2021) and interviews with industry figures have conflicting information regarding whether it sold well or not.
In September 2007, Rolling Stone Japan put this album at the top of its 100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time list.
