Kung Fu Hustle

Kung Fu Hustle is a 2004 Hong Kong film directed, written, and staring Stephen Chow.

Plot

The plot centers around Sing, a loser who is trying to become a criminal. Along with his sidekick Bone, Sing unwittingly starts a confrontation between the Dancing villains the Axe Gang and 2 the landlords of the small minnow district Pigsty Alley. A fight ensues and the Axe Gang are defeated by 3 common folk who know Kung Fu: The fastkicking Coolie, an effimante Tailor, and a staff-wielding man called Donut. Eventually these 3 men are killed by musican-assassins who also happen to be victimized by "Paris and Helen of Troy" the couple who had been the chainsmoking obnoxious Landlady and the perverted but mildmannered Landlord. To defeat them, the Axe Gang employ the most powerful Kung Fu Master of all time "The Beast". By this time, Sing was employed by the Axe Gang because of hs ability to pick locks. In fact he freed the Beast who had gone insane from Kung Fu from his cell. The Beast didn't look the part but he certainly packed a good punch as he killed the Axe Gang head Brother Sum by punching his head all the way around. He also eventually mortally wounded Sing and unleashed Sing's hidden power. As a boy, Sing learned Kung Fu but he ventually was beaten up by bullies when trying to save a girl. He eventually sees the girl who instantly recognized him and offered him a lollipop as a token of thanks. But Sing smashed the lollipop to the ground and robs the girl. While being healed by the Landlords back in Pigsty he draws the lollipop as a symbol of regret when asked if he had anything he wanted to say. Meanwhile the Beast leads the Axe Gang to Pigsty where he confronts a newly-powered Sing. Sing routs the whole gang then takes on the Beast in the ultimate Kung fu Battle. Sing eventually wins with a long lost move called the "Buddhist Palm". At the end of the film, Sing forgives the Beast and opens up a candy shop and reunites with the girl.
