"Mezase Pokémon Master" is the fifth single released by Matsumoto Rica. All the songs on the single had tie-in's with the first season of the anime Pokemon. The title track was used as the opening theme song, "Hyaku Gojuuichi" was used as the ending theme song, and the other two songs were used as insert songs in the series. The single reached #7 on the weekly Oricon chart, and stayed on the chart for a total of 56 weeks. The single sold a total of 1,127,760 copies and is the best selling single released by a seiyuu. It is also the only single released by a seiyuu to sell over a million copies, and the best selling anison single. Because the single sold 580,560 copies in 1997 and 547,200 copies in 1998, the single reached #51 and #44 on the yearly Oricon charts for 1997 and 1998 respectively.

The single was also released in 2017 due the 20th Anniversary of the title track. Because of the amount of the track, it's counted as an album. This version released #17 on the Oricon weekly charts, charted for five weeks, selling 7,775 copies. And because it sold 6,293 copies in 2017, it became the #643 single of the year.
