Information
Miss Seventeen is based on a teen beauty contest held by the American Seventeen Magazine. The Japanese Miss Seventeen successfully kicked-off in 2002 with their official "Your dreams can come true..." fairy tale effect and is open for girls ages 12 to 18. The search generally begins by April and the official contest/search is held between October to December of the year. During its first four years, it was sponsored by Lux Shampoo. In 2006 the model search was sponsored by Maybeline Cosmetics. Shueisha usually crowns one girl as Miss Seventeen and three to four more girls as runners-up.
