Synopsis

The storyline of PGSM displays similar characteristics of the anime series; it is the re-telling of the first season of the anime and manga. Although this is more manga based than anime based, it still stands a story of its own. There are numerous added plotlines and characters in the live action version.

New Characters

  • Dark Mercury: Mercury's Dark side alter-ego emerged after Kunzite put a spell upon Sailor Mercury.
  • Sailor Luna: Said to be Sailor Chibi Moon's PGSM conversion. Cat Luna turns into a human when she sneezes, and vice versa. As a Sailor Soldier, she helps in battle. As a human, Luna, she trains the Sailor Senshi.
  • Kusaka Hina: This character, played by Matsushita Moeco, never graced the manga or anime before. She was made for PGSM alone to heighten the love-triangle between herself, Chiba Mamoru and Tsukino Usagi. In the story, she is his first girlfriend/fiancee and the daughter of Mamoru's benefactor.
  • Kamekichi: Motoki's lovable pet turtle whom Motoki is obsessed with.
  • Saitou Sugao (Shacho): The word "shacho" is Japanese for any sort of company president. Since Minako is an idol here, Sugao is her manager, called "shacho". He also happens to be Tsukino Ikuko's (Usagi's mother) college friend.
  • Kuroki Mio: Like Kusaka Hina, the character of Mio was created only for PGSM. In public, she is an idol and Aino Minako's rival, but she is also the shadow of Queen Beryl.

Story Changes

  • Aino Minako: In the anime and manga, Aino Minako is an average teenager, struggling to be an idol. Here she is indeed a very popular idol (Her popularity similar to that of Hamasaki Ayumi).
  • Ami & Nephrite's Relationship: In the first season of the anime, Ami was linked to Urawa Ryo while Nephrite was Osaka Naru's first boyfriend. In PGSM they were linked together as rivals of with some underlying tension.
  • Makoto & Motoki's Relationship: In the first seasons of the anime and manga, Makoto was thought to have affection towards Shinozaki. Motoki, however, had an England-based girlfriend named Reika. In the live-action series, Motoki falls in love with Makoto.
  • Usagi, Mamoru, and Hina's Love Triangle: In the anime and manga, a lot of characters had been the third wheel in Usagi & Mamoru's relationship (i.e. Ann, Furuhata Onazuki, Seiya, even Tenou Haruka [Sailor Uranus], to name a few). However, in PGSM, Kusaka Hina is the third person in this love triangle. Later in the series, Beryl also shows an interest in Mamoru.
  • Minako's Origin: In the anime and manga, Aino Minako is from England. In PGSM, she is from Japan.
