Born in 1993 in Hyogo, Japan, Rei spent her childhood years in New York, making her fully bilingual in English and Japanese, which she incorporates into her self-penned lyrics. Having started classic guitar at the age of 4, she became fascinated with blues music at 5, and still lists Johnny Winter, Blind Blake, J.B. Lenoir, Jeff Lang, Beck, tUnE-yArDs, HIATUS KAIYOTE, and more as some of her favorite musicians and inspirations.
Rei released her first mini-album BLU in February 2015, which was produced by PETROLZ's Nagaoka Ryosuke. Since then, she's garnered appraise for her performances at major Japanese rock events such as Fuji Rock, Rising Sun, and Peter Barakan's Live Magic.
Rei's self-produced second mini-album includes her self-designed album cover and seven new tracks, ranging from explosive, blues sounds to sentimental songs accompanied by tender guitar strumming. A perfect blend of her Japanese roots and classic American blues, mixed with a touch of indie rock, her anticipated second mini-album was released on November 4th, 2015.
