NoGoD

NoGoD, who was known previous their major debut as Shinko Shukyo Gakudan NoGoD (新興宗教楽団NoGoD; New Religion Band NoGoD), is a five member rock and visual-kei band with a metal sound. Lead by Dancho, they formed in March of 2005 in the Kanto region of Japan. In their indies phase they were signed to ART POP ENTERTAINMENT and its sub-label Terakoya, and in 2010 made their major debut through KING RECORDS.

Biography

2005-2006

After the band Dagger Remain disbanded, three of its five members decided to start a new band. Lead by vocalist Dancho (who went by "Koutarou" in Dagger Remain) Aki and KANA acquired another guitarist, newcomer Soumu, and made Shinkou Shuukyou Gakudan NoGoD (新興宗教楽団NoGoD) on March 1st 2005. For the next seven months NoGoD rehearsed, wrote songs, and had member changes. Soumu left in July and would later join the bands Hotel Shinigami and FeaDior; he was replaced with Kyrie on August 18th. KANA left in early October and later joined PIECElang; he was replaced with Karin on October 19th. They didn't have an official drummer but used K as a support drummer. K would later join as an official member on June 24th, 2006. NoGoD would have their debut live at Akasaka L@N on October 19th.

Starting from their debut live copies of "Strawberry night" were distributed until no more were left. Their second and last performance in October was at Shinjku HOLIDAY on the 25th. There were three lives in November: #1 on the 6th at Ikebukuro CYBER, #2 on the 12th at Urawa NARCISS, and #3 at Ikebukuro CYBER on the 24th. Starting from the concert on the 12th, NoGoD started to distribute "Kimi ni Okuru Bukiyou de Migatte na Uta". Four lives in December concluded the year, the first one was at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU on the 2nd and the last was at Urawa NARCISS on the 30th.

In the last winter months of 2006, the band performed seven concerts and released their debut mini-album. They began on January 6th at Urawa NARCISS and ended on February 24th at Urawa NARCISS. On February 11th they relesaed their debut mini-album Tenbatsu Enban. At this time NoGoD was unsigned and their previous distributed singles were self-published, but their mini-album was distributed by Zёnit Music Factory (the label of venue Urawa NARCISS).

In March they played six lives, they started at Shibuya O-WEST on the 5th and concluded at Urawa NARCISS on the 27th. For two of those Dancho had a the role of MC, they were the concert and one at Meguro Rockmaykan on the 21st. During April NoGoD had five concerts and released their third venue-only single; they spanned from the 4th at Ikeburkuro CYBER (they also played a session band) to the 26th at Roppongi Y2K. On April 9th NoGoD sold "Sakura / Kimi wa Tsuki wo Tsukamu" at their live in Ikebukuro CYBER.

For the next two months (May & June) the band was busier than before with 15 lives, one of them being their own one man and the other a special two man. After a concert on May 3rd at Uarawa NARCISS and the 6th at HEAVEN'S ROCK Utsunomiya VJ-2, NoGoD held their first sponsored event at Ikebukuro CYBER on the 10th. The rest of the month's lives stretched from the 18th at Osaka MUSE to the 29th at Shibuya O-WEST. One of those concerts, on the 22nd at Takadanobaba AREA, was a session made by Karin. The concert at Ikebukuro CYBER on the 24th was a secret performance.

Those aforementioned concerts during June spanned Shizuoka SUNASH on the 3rd to Takadanobaba AREA on the 26th. Some of the lives of note, which all took place at Ikebukuro CYBER, are: the secret performance on the 6th, NoGoD's first one man Dasakkai on the 20th, and a charity two man with Kamikaze Boyz on the 23rd. Also at their first one man, the band distributed their fourth venue-only single "Kono Sekai ni Mihanasaretemo".

In July it was announced that they had signed with independent label Terakoya, a subsidiary of ART POP ENTERTAINMENT. Their first releases through the label would be a two consecutive month single release plan; number one was their debut single "Akafukyou" on July 12th and number two was their second single "Kurofukyou" on August 30th. The lives during those two months stretched from Urawa NARCISS on July 5th to Takadanobaba AREA on August 30th.

For the two months in autumn (September & October) NoGoD had 12 lives, with one of them being a special session. The concerts started on September 12th at Takadanobaba AREA and ended on October 24th at Shibuya O-EAST. The session was a one man live on September 19th at Ikebukuro CYBER; they performed as a SCISSOR copy band called Koushikiri SCISSOR and covered their songs.

In the tail-end of the year, in November and December, the band played 11 lives and released their second mini-album. After a concert on November 7th at Nagoya ell.FITS ALL and another at Nishikuzyou BRAND NEW on the 9th, NoGoD held their second one man performance titled Kannatsuki no Ran on the 29th at Harajuku ASTRO HALL. The concerts in December spanned from Yokohama CLUB24 on the 8th to Ikebukuro CYBER on the 29th. On the last day of the year the band had three differnt lives; #1 at Yokohama CLUB24, #2 at Akarenga Souko 1-goukan 3F Hall, and #3 at Zepp Tokyo. On December 6th they released their second mini-album Kanna Fukyou. It is the band's first release to be available in two versions (with one having a DVD) and containing their first PV.
