RADWIMPS promoting ANTI ANTI GENERATION (2018)

RADWIMPS

RADWIMPS (ラッドウインプス) is a Japanese rock band formed in 2001 at Kanagawa Prefecture. The band made their debut in 2003 with the single "Moshi mo" under an indie label. In 2005, they signed with the label EMI Music Japan. The band achieved great commercial success in 2006 with their album RADWIMPS 4 ~Okazu no Gohan~ and are best known for their later singles "Order Made" in 2008 and "DADA" in 2011, both of which hit number one on Oricon's single charts. In 2011 the band released their sixth album Zettai Zetsumei which debuted at #2 on the Oricon charts and went on to be certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

In a survey in 2006 conducted by Oricon on what musical acts were likely to become popular in the next year, RADWIMPS were voted as the second most likely male artist. Oricon noted how popular the band was, despite their lack of any major television publicity (such as television drama theme songs, or advertising commercial songs), and further linked their popularity to their performances at summer festivals, as well as their live tours.

On August 24, 2016, RADWIMPS released their album Kimi no Na wa., used as the soundtrack for the anime film of the same name. It was #1 on Oricon's weekly album rankings on September 5, 2016, with 58,000 copies sold. It also received a digital download album certification of Gold from the RIAJ for sales of 100,000.

Their ninth studio album, ANTI ANTI GENERATION, is released this week on December 12th.
