- Information
"Marie-Anne" is the sixteenth single released by ALFEE. It was initially released as an EP record, then later as an 8cm CD. The title track was inspired by the French-German film Marianne de ma jeunesse (Marianne of My Youth). "Marie-Anne" is the band's breakthrough single. It initially charted outside the Oricon weekly top ten, but later reached #7. Overall, it charted for 32 weeks and sold approximately 373,000 copies. Later that year, the band performed the song at the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen.
Although the title is romanized as "Marie-Anne" on the single's cover, the pronunciation is "Mary Anne".
An English eurobeat cover called "MARY ANN" was sung by DAVE RODGERS and DOMINO on the album the ALFEE MEETS dance. It was also covered with a heavy metal sound by Anchang on his single "Cobra Twist".
