Matsuzaki Nao started singing and writing her own music when she was a child. In 1995, she participated in the SD Audition but she didn't get a label deal until 1998 after starring as the lead character in the movie Sink. She released her first single, "Hanabira]", in April of that same year under the label Epic Records Japan. She continued to release albums and singles under the label until 2002 when the label canceled her contract. She later released her mini-album FLOR TREM under EMI Records and then begin to release her future stuff on the label POPSTAR.
