User talk:Seph

Hey.. thanks for your reply. Not sure if these talk pages are replied to like messages at forums or if you edit them like you edit templates (using == or === signs between replies), but I guess I can reply here. Anyways, the point on this is to be as close to thePPN's wiki while not "being" thePPN. In other words, I'd like to try a few unique ideas here, but following what thePPN did just simply worked, so it'll be up to future contributors to make it something special. There are a few pages like the Hikki page which don't look the same, but I know Delirium-Zer0's trying her own approach for the Ayu page. I've spoken with both Wapiko and DarkScorpion who've agreed to this, with Wapiko hopefully posting an announcement here sometime today. Should this wiki be as big as thePPN, that's great, but I do understand if people have doubts about this place since it's only been around for about a month. In time, however, I hope we can be a reputable source of Asian music info, as well as gaining the trust of future users with a reliable site that backups regularly.

Womby unfortunately has been unreachable for months. I realize he has his own problems to worry about in life (supposedly 10-14 hour days), it's unlikely he can help with providing any sort of backup. Only DS has a backup from 2005, so I'll try and get that up to move any articles that aren't here yet. Still, this is a pretty huge project to take on. Despite being able to port over about 50+ articles a day, thePPN had about 18,000 before vanishing. It'll take more help than just the 4-5 current contributors, but I know thePPN had a few thousand users.

If you need anything, please let me know via MSN (mechatronx@hotmail.com), AIM (OmegaPrime2020), or yahoo (omegaxprime). Thanks again for helping!

Thank you, I somewhat understand the purpose. Because I like Wiki.theppn style so I'm happy to contribute. I just want to make sure that we got permission to use the style and old data or not. And shouldn't we make a community page for everyone to discuss about things?Seph

Community Page

I'm up for that, but I thought I'd reply letting you know that I saw this as it's close to 2am here and I'm beat. I'll see about adding it in the morning :)

Disc Artworks

Thanks for letting me know. Otherwise, I might have added another one somewhere else

Thanks for fixing them. I'm still learning.

Minor grammer thing

When someone covers a song by another artist, like "Sotsugyou Shashin" on Hamasaki Ayumi's "A Ballads" is should read "(Matsutoya Yumi cover)". When you say Matsutoya Yumi's cover, it make it possessive, which makes it sound like Yuming is the one singing a cover of Hamasaki's song. ~ Themonkeyofdoom 04:18, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, I will pay more attention about it in the future. --Seph 06:08, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Oricon Charts

Hey, thanks for completing the Oricon chart on Kaze no Chroma. I was just wondering where you can find archives of old Oricon charts. --Lambchopsuey 04:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

^_^ Here for the Under 101 Oricon charts and her for previous data. Seph 04:12, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! It is very useful. :) --Lambchopsuey 20:10, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Maki Goto

The Maki Goto text was not copied from the wikipedia. It is me who wrote it for Jpop Stop Wiki and J-Ongaku, then posted it on the English Wikipedia to have it updated too. So please, reverse the edit, as it looks confusing now, without sales numbers or anything. :) --Madetwenty 13:18, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I checked Wikipedia Goto's page history and not all biography is written you, only the avex part and I don't feel anything confusing without sales numbers. Sorry, I'm not going to revert my editions. About the page, if you are feeling uncomfortable with the page, please feel free to edit it, thank you! Seph 15:31, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

RE: Gallary

Hello! I saw that you wrote this on FoxxyFuyumi's page:

  1. We are not a gallery so please do not upload that tone of images like Base Ball Bear or Onitsuka Chihiro page. In artist page, I don't think we need two (or more) promotional pictures for one year and for album / single page, if you don't have place for it, just drop it.

Are there space limitations on this wiki or something? I personally love those two artist pages with the images. It makes it really vibrant and eye catching which separates this wiki from other pages that contain mass amounts of text. Plus - and this is specific to those pages - I enjoy how you can track the 'artist image' throughout their career's time. --Ringo 04:11, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

No, there aren't any space limits, but I think he's simply ensuring pages don't have 20+ random images (not saying you added that many, but I'm imagining it's following the previous thePPN policies). Guess Seph can explain better as he knows how it's done :) --EXodius 04:44, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
First, I'm not he XD. Second, a lot of images will bring us the problem of hotlinking. Yes, there aren't any limit about the amount of images uploaded but I think one promotional image for each year is enough? Something like Base Ball Bear promoting LOVE MATHEMATICS (2009) and Base Ball Bear promoting Kamigami LOOKS YOU (2009), they are 2 consecutive singles so they don't prove the maturation of the band by time and sometime we don't have enough space for all of the promotional pictures. Anyway, please feel free to edit this wiki, that what I want, thank you! Seph 08:16, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

I really dont understand If we have the space why we dont add some images. In Chihiro's and BBB's I dont understand the problem, but it's ok. I am always trying to make the Jpopstop community like Wiki's but since I came here I am always criticized every freaking day. I appreciate the exaplanations but I never saw in my page someone saying "Thank You", "Hey You made this mistake, but at least the main information is there"... It's really sad!

Well, I do apologize for the criticism you're getting. Keep in mind that while you may not get a "thank you" for every page you update, it's always much appreciated! I just think that we're trying to keep things to a minimum not so much for space, but bandwidth. Right now this site has craploads of bandwidth, but the original ppn wiki faced issues with server lag and eventually stopped working because of the tens of thousands who visited each day. I don't know if we'll get to that point without some promotion, but hopefully you and others can help build up this wiki to be a main source of asian music info :) --EXodius 14:05, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Me too, I apologize if I were harsh on you. Yes, I know all your love to artists, we are both fans (even though sometimes I'm just an electricity fan XD) and our goal are the same. I'm not meaning like this, it's just sometime I were so tired and I saw things but I were too tired to edit it. Anyway, all I want it everyone feel free and easy to edit this wiki. Please continue your good work. --Seph 15:59, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

it's ok

It's ok guys I just feel kinda sad but now that I saw your comments I feel better. I will try to do what you told me. If sometimes I forget I am sorry (sometimes I still forget to put the categories when uploading the images for example). Now that Seph explained how to search the Oricon releases pages I am adding the external links too. The thing that I didn't understand is the ranks. Can you explain again? I went to those pages but it's very confusing. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the explanation. I was able to do the oricon charts since mid/end of 2007. But I cant find the dates of YUI's releases between her debut to Rolling Star.

Hi Seph! I am sorry disturbing you again but where we can see the total sales in the Oricon website (or another website)? Oh and how we see old pages from Wiki theppn?

Here is a way to take data from the web archive. So far I know, Oricon doesn't public sales data unless we pay, I alway combined sales from the charts. On Jpopmusic forums, there is a thread for sales, or if you know some Japanese, you can ask here. Next time please sign or I don't known who is talking, please have a good day! Seph 10:38, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh Thanks!! It was me, FoxxyFuyumi =D

New Question

Hey Seph I need to ask something. Now this might be considered a stupid question or not but I just need to ask either way :D.. Ok on the original Wikitheppn I made the article for the show We Got Married. I wrote the info for the article myself. Unfortunately that wasn't saved and is gone now of course, FORTUNATELY I found a site that copied and and pasted the exact information. I plan on making the article again but I gotta know would it be OK for me to just reuse that information? I mean it's something I wrote but they're the only site I can find that actually used that info so IDK if it would be considered plagiarism in some form or if they would claim plagiarism even though I wrote it O_o? I just need someones advice on this. Krazoom 23:04, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm not too sure but I think if you wrote it, then you are free to use it. I checked the archive but it doesn't have the data so it was written in 2008. But I think we can bring the problem to the Community Portal so everyone can discuss about it. Thank you for your contribution! Seph 01:48, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Whoops I forgot I commented here haha. anyway thanks :D I think I'll just forget the WGM article. I forget ya gotta update it often with new clebs >< I'll leave it to someone else Krazoom 03:39, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

RE:Some notes

Hi Seph, um I'm REALLY sorry if this is the wrong place to try to contact you in. I saw your message to me and I'm very thankful for all that info!!! I am very new here and I'm still try to grasp the site...so forgive me for my mistakes. I will try to keep all of your notes in mind when I contribute in the future! Thanks for all the help!

Okui Masami

I saw you working on the Okui Masami (YAYE! ^__^!) pages. When uploading the old 8cm CD covers don't forget to add the category, and since I had previously did some Okui related pages, I've already tagged images with a category for her and she has a templete. Keep up the great work :D! ~ Themonkeyofdoom 15:41, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I just forget that we have that category, thank you ^.^! Seph 15:44, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey seph thanks for adding the oricon information to the Takasugi Satomi‎ pages I made but I have a question. Where does one get that info? I mean is it right smack there in my face on the oricon profile pages? I guess if so it must be in Japanese and since I can't read Kanji I'm pretty SOL lol. But anyway thanks again :D Krazoom 03:41, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it on Oricon page, i.e. RELATION ~Ano Kaze wo Tadotte~, it's: 最高位:65位 登場回数:2回 .
Ah I see I see now. Thanks! Krazoom 09:01, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi Seph sorry to keep bugging you but well I asked this to Themonkeyofdoom but for whatever reason my question wasn't answered yet :( . Ok well my question is is it necessary to link the instrumentals of a song when the main song is already linked?

Sorry, I were busy for Lunar New Year so I delayed the answer. I think it's better to link it, I always link the instrumental version like [[Kiseki no Umi|Kiseki no Umi (Instrumental)]]. Enjoy your stay and have a nice day! --Seph 02:44, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks :D I was just curious because I've seen that some people link it and some don't so didn't know what the proper format was.

Remember me :)? Zeli17 06:01, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Before I'm unblcoked can I at least help with the reverts and all? Zeli17 07:59, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you!

Seph, thank you so much for your help reverting everything. I know I speak for more than just myself when I tell you how appreciated it is. ~ Wapiko 08:08, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

It's nothing, I just want to clean this mess ASAP =.=. -Seph 08:14, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, it's cleaned, no need to make a big deal anymore --Solarblade 08:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
If I apologized to any of you, would you accept my apology or have I burned my bridges? Zeli17 08:26, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Er, you don't have to burn anything for apologizing. If you are calm now then it's okay. Seph 08:29, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Seph, that was a figure a speech...meaning "or did he do enough to not have the apology mean anyting" --Solarblade 08:32, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I am definitely sorry for what that's worth... Zeli17 08:40, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, English isn't my native language so I don't know some figure of speech. Sorry if I hurt you again, Agrhot333. I meant that now everything are back to normal, then it's okay. I were mad but now I know the cause, be strong! --Seph 08:43, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks man! I guess now my only thing to do is to apologize to Wapiko for what I've done since I;ve caused her so many headachges over the past 4 years... 08:49, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I actually didn't catch your post on the fourm SEph. Thanks for your kindness :)! it means a lot right now. Zeli17 09:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow, good job Seph. I was watching F1 and I just came to see how was this going and almost everything is as it was. Awesome ^^.--Pizca 09:14, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

=D You work fast! Thanks for fixing everything Seph! ~ Themonkeyofdoom 09:17, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
You are welcome! What done is done and everything are back now, you can go to sleep and have nice dreams now, that was hard for everyone. Seph 09:28, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi guys. I think I am late...but what happened? LOL--FoxxyFuyumi 17:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Want the long or short version? --Solarblade 17:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
LOL I already saw:

> The forum > The recent changes > And all discussion pages So I think I understand (kind of) what happened xD --FoxxyFuyumi 17:23, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

So why havn't we blocked him now? ~ Themonkeyofdoom 17:38, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
It's pointless. He's still got sysop status so he can unblock himself. ~ Wapiko 17:42, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking the same Themonkeyofdoom. But is there some kind of solution? He/She is always apologizing but right now I dont trust a single word.--FoxxyFuyumi 17:46, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
His sysop status was removed, he is just a regular user. You guys agree that he should be block for good? ~ Themonkeyofdoom 17:53, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Sure he should. He already made an apology for impersonation the real Zeli, and after that, out of nowhere the disaster (XD). I don't think he owns the right to be here. (and please, take that words as I'm a non English native speaker, they may sound rude, but they weren't).--Pizca 18:03, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Had I known this earlier, he would've been banned the minute the de-moddifying happened. ~ Wapiko 18:20, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, he apologized, but Wapiko didn't really acknowledged the apology and just flat out banned him, to be honest I thought that was where some of you people crossed the lines, last night. You know what if it wasn't for me calming him down, there would've been more problems, and he did a lengthy apology on the forums and yahoo, so yknow maybe a thing called second chance applies here...OK, dont give him sysop abilites but dont flatout ban him. And if you use the whole situation at PPN, then that's weak, we're past that site, this is jpopstop not PPN guys!... --Solarblade 18:45, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean about crossing the lines, but if anyone did, was him. And I'm sure Wapiko banned him because impersonating is prohibited. The apology was there, of course, but he actually banned Plisskin‎ for less reasons minutes before!.--Pizca 18:56, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
What Pizca said. I banned him because of all of the stuff he's pulled in the past and clearly, he cannot take the hint. He had a second chance: that was the second chance, and he ruined it. You're too soft, Solarblade. ~ Wapiko 19:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Maybe not crossing the lines...shoulds worded that differently, but like I mean calling rude things during this whole shi-bang. Yeah, impersonating is prohibited, got that and well Plisskin did get pretty testy against Zeli before the ban was placed too.

Actually what I was getting at was, what I think is wrong is how Zeli and Wapiko asked for admins powers...not being mean to EXodius, but to fair, some of us worked our butts for that status and it's just not right. Like I know Wappy has done stuff in the past, but she should earn it like she did then and not just ask for it, kind of seems unfair, just my two cents --Solarblade 19:02, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I understand you think my promotion is unfair considering I have been absent for almost an entire year. I wholeheartedly apologize for this; it was not right of me to just disappear and suddenly come back (after being provoked by a troll, to boot). If we are continuing things like we did at ThePPN, however, then I think my contributions should be counted, and I also have the experience of being a sysop there for many years. When the Zeli-impersonator suggested I ask for my sysop status restored it did not seem so outlandish at the time - I hope it will not come to this, but if my promotion has hurt anybody in any way I will step down and do my best to be a regular contributor from now on. ~ Wapiko 19:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
At this stage of things, I say we just see how you do here, Wapiko. As you originally helped in endorsing this as the replacement to theppn (and it was made 100% official a month ago by Womby himself when he spoke to DarkScorpion), I felt I owed you that much with being an admin here. Of course, this situation has shown that I can't merely assume someone is who they say they were from the old theppn, but I believe I spoke with you last year when you joined this wiki so I know you're Wapiko. Will there be more admins in the future? Of course. Still, those promotions will be based on actual contributions and not having someone say "yea, I did a lot on theppn". I sadly can't browse theppn anymore to verify these things, so we'll simply see what the future brings --EXodius 19:30, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, EXodius. =) And if you do need further verification I'm me, just say the word. All of this kind of blew me away, so I don't blame you for not being able to trust that well anymore (-_-)''' ~ Wapiko 19:35, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I've been noticing your edits to the disambiguation pages with respect to punctuation. I'm sorry to be picky, but commas should go inside the quotation marks (according to Associated Press Stylebook, the Chicago Manual of Style, and Wikipedia, among others).Zoumusume 08:48, 22 April 2010 (CDT)

Uhm, sorry, but, as I said that I'm not American and I was raised to use quotation marks in that way so it carved into my head that I have to write like this and I may can not change that attitude. I know that you are right but if I write like this, it goes against my country's grammar rules and I feel that I'm writing something wrong. Seph 08:38, 22 April 2010 (CDT)
Yeah, I think it's different in some countries. I feel like I'm using wrong punctuation, though, when I put things outside of quotation marks and whatnot, so I don't know if a compromise can be reached. ~ Wapiko 09:53, 22 April 2010 (CDT)
Sorry to butt in but it seems people mostly use the British style of punctuation, from what I seen at least. I'm from Canada and as a country we use both styles (I favour the British style). I don't think there really needs to be a compromise as the styles exist together, you know? It's the same thing with the differences between "color" and "colour", one shouldn't say the other is wrong as they're both correct. I do think that a single page should use one style so they don't clash. --CrypticTokyo 16:13, 22 April 2010 (CDT)

Gabriela Robin

Hey I read that Yoko Kanno performed as Gabriela Robin which proved that it was infact a pseudonym of hers so I wondering should the links that direct you to Gabriela Robin's wikipeda page be redirected to Kanno's page here on Jpopstop? --Krazoom 19:04, 12 May 2010 (CDT)

I'm a little confused a about it too. Even she proved it by singing but no official confirmation has made or stated by her. Seph 22:37, 12 May 2010 (CDT)
I was looking for an interview or anything where she stated it but couldn't find anything except the information on the performance. So I guess just wait till she officially reveals it? --Krazoom 15:16, 13 May 2010 (CDT)
