Kashiwabara Yoshie (柏原芳恵) is a Japanese pop singer and actress.

Information

Kashiwabara got her start in her music career when she appeared on the singing competition show Star Tanjou! in 1979, singing the Shimizu Michiko song "Ogenki Desu ka". She was crowded the grand champion of the contest and released her first single, "No.1", in 1980 on the label Phillip Records. But her hit single didn't come a year later when she released her seventh single, "Hello Guppai".

When she released the single "Karin" in 1982, she changed her name to all kanji characters and shed her idol singer image by one step at a time. She also released the Nakajima Miyuki penned single "Haru no ni" later on, which became another hit for Kashiwabara. By the end of the 1980s, she appeared on the end of the year special program Kouhaku Uta Gaseen two times and won six awards at the Nihon Record Taishou.

In the later half of the 1980s, Kashiwabara also took on an acting career by playing roles in television doramas. She also starred in movies and musicals by the early part of 1990s. She stopped her singing career in 1990 but would later celebrate in 2005 with the release of a mega best album, Kashiwabara Yoshie 25 Shuunen Kinen BOX ~ 25TH ANNIVERSARY COMPLETE ALBUM, and a new single, entitled "MaMa / Mienai Tsubasa". She also released her first cover album, encore, in 2007.
