Information
CHA-CHA was formed in part due to the reason that the television variety show Kin Kira Rin 530!! wanted to start their own boyband to be the "disruption corps" for the other boybands, especially Johnny's. They held auditions and in 1987, they picked Hino Tamao, Matsubara Momotaro, and Suma Kazuya to be the first generation. But, Hino and Suma graduated from the group a little after and the television program auditioned and chose Katsumata Kunikazu, Kino Masato, [[Nishio Takumi], Nakamura Nobutoshi, and Kimura Takuya as the second generation.
Soon after, the new group took lessons from the show and debuted on Kin Kira Rin 530!! soon after. But, Kimura would be soon cut from the group and later become one of the leading faces of the boyband SMAP. The rest of the members would continue until 1988 when Hino, Katsumura, Nishio, Matsubara, and Suma would form the music group CHA-CHA. But soon after. Hino and Suma would be replaced by Nakamura and Kino.
CHA-CHA soon made their music debut in 1988 when the single Beginning. Kino would later leave the group after a while and go into retirement. Then in four years later in 1992, the group broke up after their last concert at Shibuya Town Hall with former member Kino as the guest.
In 2006, the group would reunite as Katsumata Kunikazu as the leader and four new members for two years.
