Information

Kabata was one of the 16 finalists of Morning Musume Member Tsuika Audition which aired on TV Tokyo's talent search show ASAYAN in 1998, but lost. Rumors were going that she might be joining Melon Kinenbi or Country Musume, but nothing emerged from this.

In 2001, she participated in the Haisha Fukkatsu Oo Audition on the same talent show, and was offered four record deals (by Life Records, King Records, Victor, and Triem. Kabata liked the original song "Namida" that Four Life had prepared for the subsequent demo tape recording, and she signed a contract with them.
