Kahimi Karie debuted into the music scene in 1991 on the compiation album, Blow Up. She released, Mike Alway's Diary her debut single. Over the next three years she released four singles, and five mini-albums. The first of those was her second single, Girly which much like her first single did not chart on the Oricon.
 
 
Karie's first mini-album, MY FIRST KARIE reached the 14th position on the Oricon and charted for a total of ten weeks. Her follow up mini-album I Am a Kittin only managed to reach the 60th position on the Oricon and charted for four weeks. Only six months later Karie released a third mini-album, LEUR L'EXISTENCE. This release reached the nineth position on the Oricon and stayed on the charts for six weeks. Three months later Karie bounced back with her third single, Good Morning World which was her first single writtin by Momus. The single reached the 20 position on the Oricon and stayed on the charts for three weeks. Almost a year later came the release of her fourth single, Humming Ga Kikoeru.It mangaed to grab the 26th position on the Oricon and chart for a total of six weeks. Twenty-four days later came the release of her fourth mini-album, Le Roi Soleil. It managed to reach the nineth spot on the Oricon and it charted for a total of seven weeks. Le Roi Soleil is currently Karie's best selling mini-album to date. Her fith single Tiny King Kong, released in February was Karie's first release of '97. It was Karie's first release in almost two years which did not chart on the Oricon. A month later she released her fifth mini-album Larme De Crocodile. After speeding through the first couple years of her career Karie to take a break and change her focus to co-producing artists overseas and announced work with various artists. In 1997 Karie released a "Best Of" album in North America which followed with a United States tour consisting of 17 shows starting in New Yorck City. The concert lead her all the way back to Japan where she released, the Remixes single which failed to chart on the Oricon. Four months later came the release of her sixth single, One Thousand 20th Century Chairs. This single barely broke into the top hundred, reaching the 80th position and only managed to chart for a week.
 
 
A month later brought the release of her first album and first Best Of, K.K.K.K.K.. The album reached the 30th position on the Oricon and charted for a total of five weeks. Karie followed up the album with a long awaited Japan tour.
 
 
Her second album, THE BEST OF TRATTORIA YEARS plus MORE also happened to be a best of compilation. It managed to the the 55th position on the Oricon and chart for two weeks. Kahimi Karie (カヒミ・カリィ) is an Japanese experimental pop musician. She made her debut in 1992 with the cheeky "Mike Alway's Diary" and when on to become a well known Shibuya-kei singer. During this time she was dating FLIPPERS GUITAR's Oyamada Keigo, and the two become the It couple of Shibuya.
