Information

Kitade Nana started her career by entering the Sony Music Audition in 2002. After winning the competition she graduated from Hokkaido University of Education (attached to Sapporo Junior High School) and came to Tokyo. Then on October 29, 2003, she debuted with the single Kesenai Tsumi, which was used as the first closing theme song of the anime Fullmetal Alchemist. Kesenai Tsumi was a success gaining the #14 spot on Oricon and charting for 22 weeks. With the success of Kesenai Tsumi, Kitade then released Kesenai Tsumi ~raw "breath" track~, a slowed down version of Kesenai Tsumi. After Fullmetal Alchemist, Kitade's CD singles sales began to steadily decline in the Oricon charts. Though her first album 18 -eighteen- sold fairly well reaching the #15 spot and charting for 5 weeks.

Outside of Japan, Kitade has performed in China, France, and The United States. She was one of the musical guests at Otakon 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland. Her album 18 -eighteen- was also released in the United States by Tofu Records on July 11th, 2006 with the bonus track KISS or KISS (English Version) from her SLAVE of KISS single. In France Nana also performed at Japan Expo, which took place in Paris in 2007. Her best album Berry Berry SINGLES includes footage of her travel and performances there.

Beginning April 27th, 2006, Kitade released 13 singles in a row. These are available for exclusive cell phone downloads for 100yen each, with a theme of "7". Each single was released on the 7th, 17th, or 27th of each month until August 27th, 2006. Some songs are covers, while others are new.

Gothic Lolita

After the release of pureness / Nanairo, Kitade Nana's clothing style began to slowly change to Gothic Lolita with the release of KISS or KISS. During the releases of KISS or KISS to Kanashimi no Kizu her Gothic Lolita clothing was more subtle but then changed drastically with the release of her 8th single SLAVE of KISS. Although by this time Kitade's popularity dwindled. Yet interestingly she developed a small fan base and gained interest in Gothic Lolita clothing companies like BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT (Which in interviews she has repeatedly stated they are her favorite brand.) Other than BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT, Kitade is a regular model in the magazine KERA and Gothic & Lolita Bible. Though many young girls in Japan have stated that Nana influenced them into dressing in the Gothic Lolita style.
