THE STAR ONIONS was introduced at Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia Special Night in September 2004 by pianist Tanioka Kumi. They also made their first performance at this event. The band released their debut album, FINAL FANTASY XI -Music from the Other Side of Vana'diel- in August 2005. After its release, they focused on live performances in various Final Fantasy XI events and members' own activities. They also made their first oversea performance at California's Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival in November 2006. In 2009, THE STAR ONIONS will return with their second album, Sanctuary -Music from the Other Side of Vana'diel-.
