Information

Oshiro Laura was born in 1984 in Brazil to a part German, part Italian father, and a mother who is a second-born Japanese. She lived in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, until the age of 10, when she and her family moved to Mie, Japan. In 2000, at the age of 15, Laura was hired at a modeling agency in Nagoya to be a local model. When she was 17 she moved to Tokyo and continued her modeling work there. In her spare time, Laura would sing and play her guitar in Harajuku; she made many friends this way. By now, Laura was modeling for the punk magazine Kera, and the alternative fashion magazines CUTiE and Zipper.

In February 2004, Laura took a temporary hiatus from modeling to focus solely on her music and went back to Brazil. She left Japan purely by impulse and didn't even have a place to stay. Fortunately for her, she was seated next to a Brazilian-Japanese woman on the plane, who offered Laura a place to stay for one month. After living in Rio de Janeiro for two months, she went back to her hometown of Mato Grosso do Sul for four months. It was in Brazil that Laura achieved completion of her first demo CD, complete with five songs.

Upon returning to Japan and plugging her CDs at various live houses, a music producer liked what they heard and had Laura undergo music lessons for a year. She continued to be known as "Oshiro Laura" in the magazines she modeled for, but she had created the stage name Laura Sabrina by this time.

More than two years after Laura's journey, her first CD was scheduled to drop sometime in May 2006, according to her website. However, Laura only began recording for the album in mid-May. It had been assumed the CD will drop sometime in the summer of 2006; however, Laura seems to have taken a hiatus from the music world.

Her first single (and the first song she wrote), "My Angel" is about discovering love. It was written and recorded while she was staying in Brazil. It is unknown when or if this song will ever be released; a short preview was available on Laura's website.

  • Was rumored to be in a hip-hop video (CO-KEY's C2K), but her Levie model profile (now LesPros) has taken this information down.
