"Taiyou no Uta" is a character single released by Sawajiri Erika under the name "Kaoru Amane", a character she played in the drama Taiyou no Uta. The single was released in two versions: a limited CD+DVD edition and a regular CD-only edition. It reached #1 in its second week on the Oricon weekly chart and charted for 24 weeks. Because it sold 480,183 copies in 2006, it became the #10 best-selling single of the year and the #1 best-selling single by a solo female artist. The single has also been certified double platinum by RIAJ. In all, the single sold 488,604 copies.
The title track was self-covered by Shiratori Maika on her album hikousen.
