The Best Ten
From generasia

The Best Ten (ザ・ベストテン) was a popular Japanese music show that aired from January 19, 1978 to September 28, 1989. It was broadcasted live on TBS every Thursday from 21:00-21:54 JST. There were a total of 603 shows produced.
Information
Concept
Each week, there was a countdown of the current "best ten" songs. The rankings were based on sales and a combination of cable, radio, and postcard requests. After the revealing of each song, the artist would appear and perform.
In Popular Culture
- The beginning of the music video for Hamasaki Ayumi's song "Sparkle" shows a recreation of the set, with Hamasaki's latest songs ranking from #4 to #1 (and presumably #10 to #5 as well, but they cannot be seen). She then appears and performs "Sparkle".
