King Gnu

King Gnu is a 4-member rock band signed to Ariola Japan. Their style of music is described as a mixture of contemporary, alternative rock with a hip-hop and J-pop edge. Formed in 2013, the band was known originally as Mrs.Vinci and then Srv.Vinci until 2017 when they renamed themselves to King Gnu. They then performed at the Fuji Rock Festival in 2017 and 2018.

In January 2019, the band released the album Sympa, their first release under a major label after signing to Ariola Japan. The following month, King Gnu released hit song "Hakujitsu", which ranked #4 in the year-end chart of Billboard Japan Hot 100. In October, they released "Kasa" and won their first #1 on the Billboard Japan Download Chart. Their third major album CEREMONY was a commercial success, peaking atop the Japanese Oricon albums chart, the Billboard Japan albums chart, and was one of the 10 best-selling albums of 2020 worldwide by selling over 1,000,000 copies.

Their fourth major single, "Ichizu / Sakayume", is released this week on December 29th.
