Information

"Marie-Anne" is the sixteenth single released by ALFEE. The title track was inspired by the French-German film Marianne de ma jeunesse (Marianne of My Youth). This is the band's breakthrough single. It initially charted outside the Oricon weekly top ten, but later reached #7. Overall, it charted for 32 weeks and sold approximately 373,000 copies. Later that year, the band performed at Nippon Budokan and at the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the first time.

Although the title is romanized as "Marie-Anne" on the single's cover, the pronunciation is "Mary Anne".

An English eurobeat cover called "MARY ANN" was sung by DAVE RODGERS and DOMINO on the album the ALFEE MEETS dance.
