"MOON WALK" is the fifth single recorded by CORNELIUS. It was solely released in a cassette tape with one of nine color tapes: red, white, yellow, blue, purple, green, yellow green, pink, and black. "MOON WALK" was the only single featured on his best selling studio album 69/96; It was released a few weeks prior to the LP. Oyamada performed the track on NHK Holiday special along side then girlfriend and protege Kahimi Karie who did a Lip sync performance of "69/96 Girl Meets Cassette".
The single reached #30 on the weekly Oricon chart. The single was not expected to fair well at the time of release due to it's chosen format of Compact Cassette. The weekly Oricon CT chart stopped ranking releases back in 1989. It ended up ranking on the weekly Single's chart, which was made of up CDs.
