At age 14, SAKURA began to focus on music deeply by listening to works of Joni Mitchell and Carole King. During the early 90s, she studied in Seattle and performed at street performance, singing mostly Blues. When she went to Japan, SAKURA formed an R&B and Soul unit that gave SAKURA recording practice by participating in a jam session in New York.
In 1997, she made her debut with the single "All Brand New" on an indies label. But soon agter, she made her major debut under Toshiba EMI with the single "SOUL MATE". Her 2003 single, "LOVE 4 REAL", cracked the OSAKAN TOP 100 radio chart. She also participated in a Def Tech song and went on tour with them.
