Ogata Ryuichi was chosen along with Chiba Ryohei to join ASAYAN Idol Contest 2000 winner Tachibana Keita in forming Japanese pop group w-inds.. Although originally chosen as a backup dancer, Ryuichi also sings a few small solo parts in some w-inds. songs such as SUPER LOVER ~I need you tonight~, Deny, Night Flight and Time Machine.
Ryuichi loves to play guitar and is often seen strumming it on commercial DVDs of the group. He likes fishing, reading manga and cooking. Ryuichi has worn his hair in a variety of styles and lengths but prefers to wear it long. He lives by the philosophy that it is not best to dwell on mistakes, but to take them into consideration and improve.
