Amano Tsuki promoting "Chou" (2003)

Amano Tsuki (天野月) is a female Japanese rock singer-songwriter, lyricist, and composer who is signed under OTOKURA RECORDS. She made her debut as an indie artist in 2001 as Amano Tsukiko (天野月子). She later signed with major label Pony Canyon and is best known for her songs "Chou", "Koe", and "Zero no Chouritsu", which were used in the Fatal Frame survival horror video games (themes for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, Fatal Frame III: The Tormented and Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse respectively). In 2008 after the release of ZERO she "retired" from being a singer but in 2010 she came back as Amano Tsuki.

Information

Amano's love for music started at the age of five when she took up piano. While in school, she entered music clubs and eventually came into the spot light when she joined a theater group. She bought her first guitar in High School (which she still plays now). She once recorded her songs on a tape and sent it to one of her friends which got onto the hands of Otokura Records. They called Amano and appreciated her work. She found a band at that time herself, but unfortunately, it failed. Later, she released "Hakoniwa", "Love Dealer" and "B.G ~Black Guitar + Berry Garden~" under the Pony Canyon indie label as Amano Tsukiko (天野月子), even though she didn't come into spot-light until her first major debut single "Bodaiju" in November of 2001. In the year 2007, she left Pony Canyon and returned independent.

Amano writes her songs as well as designing her clothes for her promotional videos. She is also skilled in guitar and loves to draw. She also has an online web-comic illustrated by herself. Her style of art is rather grotesque and abstract. Amano is quite popular in Japan which could clearly be seen at the opening of her Album "A MOON CHILD IN THE SKY" in 2005.

In Autumn 2008, Amano announced that she would retire from making music as a solo artist after the release of her final album, "ZERO". She also changed her stage name to Amano Tsuki (天野月) and has specified however that she will continue to write songs for other artists.

In 2010, Amano returned to music under OTOKURA RECORDS with her first single Hikari no Circus.
