Chiba Ryohei was chosen along with Ogata Ryuichi to join ASAYAN Idol Contest 2000 winner Tachibana Keita in forming the pop group w-inds. where he would be a backup dancer. However both backup dancers also contribute to songs through backup singing, small solos and rapping.

Ryohei is a very proficient breakdancer and classes it as his most favorite hobby. He likes to learn, and was accepted into one of the leading High Schools in his hometown of Sapporo.

He is said to be very friendly but at the same time very introverted. Other members have commented that he sometimes is not so confident about himself. Ryohei enjoys dancing and snowboarding, and can also play the bass guitar.
