yukki (formerly known as Maeda Yuki, but no relation to the Hello! Project enka singer) was the former vocalist of the band Whiteberry. She is now a soloist and songwriter.

Profile

Information

In 1996 Yuki created the band Strawberry Kids with her friends Kawamura Erika (also her cousin), Mizusawa Rimi, Hasegawa Yukari, and Inatsuki Aya. This was the beginning of what would soon be known as Whiteberry nationwide. The band made their debut in 1999 with the mini-album afterschool, and their single to follow, YUKI, became a smash hit. The band covered Natsu Matsuri in 2000; this single sold over 800,000 copies. The same year the band participated in NHK's Kohaku. In total, Whiteberry releases 13 singles, five albums, and six DVDs before disbanding in March 2004 for the members to pursue other things like school.

However, Yuki began her career as a solo artist in 2005 under the stagename "yukki" and released her first solo mini-album one year later.
