In 2000 LiL'AI dropped out of the Okinawa Actors School after 10 years of being a dancer. She came to America a month later and met the executive producer of D4P Music Entertainment. Ai was first shown at the release party of another rapper on the label and was welcomed warmly. The same year she was given the chance to open for DMX along with several other Japanese rappers. Zeebra, Nitro Microphone Underground and Rapper Gariya were all included on this list. From there LiL'AI opened for Lil'Kim and Destiny's Child before finally releasing her debut single It's So. In 2003 she collaborated with Warren G and KRS-1 on the single Let's Go. It was played throughout the world and seen on BET, Channel V, and MTV.

LiL'AI does all of her own work for concerts, including lighting, sound, outfits, and more. LiL'AI has no relation to fellow Japanese female rapper AI. Unfortunately, LiL'AI has not had any solo releases since her mini-album in 2004.
